you share what your name is and what business you run?\n\nI'm Al Abdravl Kaliczius and I run an email and SMS platform called Sendor dot net. We founded it back in twenty twelve Lithuania and have grown steadily since then.\n\nWe started working together a couple of months back. How was your situation with the business and your affiliate program before we started working together?\n\nWell, I am tell you the truth, and our affiliate implementation was kind of amateur in nature. So we did have an affiliate program, but this was mostly a self-service kind of affair where potential affiliates could simply sign up, get their affiliate materials, and start promoting our platform. This did have quite a few shortcomings that, in hindsight, now prevented us from taking advantage of all that affiliate marketing has to offer. We did have issues with brand bidding, affiliates, trying to cannibalize organic traffic, fraudulent sign ups, and things like that. Lack of volume, from, legitimate sources had us deprioritized the affiliate program because we thought that, it's more hassle than it's worth. But that changed after we started working with Victor and his team at Ophelia. I think only at that moment we realized how many things we were not doing before.\n\nI appreciate you saying that. Sounds like when you were running the program, you had a couple of issues, some brand bidding, you didn't really have the time to give it the love and attention that it needed.\n\nJust seeing all of that brand bidding and the low quality just made you deprioritize the program overall.\n\nWhat negative impact did that have on your business?\n\nWe kind of really didn't make good use of this channel. I think affiliate marketing in general has a lot of potential, but it has to be done right. So I would say that's the the biggest impact on our business because we essentially deprived our business from the traffic that that that we could have gotten. And another thing is that when you have a lot of these cheating brand bidding accounts, you are going to pay revenue share for accounts that you shouldn't have paid, and that's direct monetary loss. After we migrated to to to PartnerStack with the help of Victor and and the affiliate team, we cleaned up, what, one thousand seven hundred something accounts, which were just not worth it having it in the affiliate programs. That of course trimmed the affiliate base just to these that really have the best traffic with good signups and so on. I would say that these two things had the most impact.\n\nYeah. Like we saw, it was kind of a mess that we need to have a proper tracking solution. And one of the first things that we did after we moved the program was actually removing eighty six percent of your partners to just move the program over to quality. Looping back to when we first started talking together, how did you find out about us or about Aphelio?\n\nI think it was either you or Magnus who who reached out to us on on LinkedIn, if I'm not mistaken. So probably Aphelios found us rather than we found them.\n\nCorrect. I'm the one that sent a message to you guys. Yeah. Your CMO instantly just booked a call off of our website and we just started talking together. In that initial process before we actually started working together, what were your thoughts going through that process?\n\nWell, I initially had reservations because like I said previously, this didn't really work out so well for us before. So I didn't have high hopes for affiliate marketing as a channel in general. But after looking at at your proposal and what you proposed to us that we should change about our approach, the idea to affiliate marketing, I decided to give this a try. I just realized that we may have been doing all this thing wrong.\n\nWhat were your doubts or fear about this and working with us in particular before we started working together? Because let's be honest, like we all, we have a couple of doubts before we, you know, engage with someone.\n\nWell, one thing was that the company didn't look like it had a lot of track record with other companies before. So that's one thing that's crossed my mind that when evaluating it, if this will work or not. And another thing is that I was thinking, do these proposals have so much of an impact to overall results?\n\nI can really appreciate you sharing that. What made you say yes anyway despite these doubts?\n\nThe proposal where we pay a retainer and the rest depends purely on performance. That that kind of arrangement shows that when we win, you win. So that kind of aligns both companies. So if you really make our program perform well, you win from that.\n\nAnd I thought that's a that's a good thing compared to, you know, some other agencies where you pay a fixed fee and you don't have the fee amount tied to to to any specific outcome. That was one thing and, and another thing. So what can go wrong? What will we lose from that?\n\nThe answer was not that much. So, yeah, we we we can give this a shot if this doesn't work. But if it does, we stand to gain a new efficient marketing channel.\n\nWhere are we at now with the affiliate program?\n\nRight now, I I would say that the foundations are firmly in place. So I really like how we now have really nice, clean, attributed to legitimate affiliates revenue. And the whole process of working with the has been really pleasant for communicating with the founders, Tom Magnus and affiliate managers.\n\nWith just seeing that the program has been cleanly attributed now and it's tracking cleanly, we removed all those fraudulent partners, actually saved you guys a lot of money in fraudulent and non incremental commissioning spend and seeing that the program is now growing and producing real incremental revenue. How does that make you feel?\n\nNow we are on the right track. That's the biggest feeling now. And then looking back, I would say we really learned a lot about how affiliate marketing should be done. I'm actually glad we chose Aphelio, and I'm looking forward to to working with them for a long time.\n\nThat makes me so happy to hear, Edgar. What positive impact have this had on your business so far?\n\nOne thing is that after removing fraudulent traffic, they've got quite a bit of cash already. That's an immediate win. Beyond that, I kind of feel that affiliate works like extension of our teams. The tasks that used to be performed manually are now managed by Affiliate. And I feel that it's in a very capable and and and experienced hands. This frees up some time from our team to to pursue other opportunities.\n\nReally appreciate everything you've shared so far. What would you tell someone who, they are a B2B SaaS founder, maybe they have an affiliate program, it's not producing any meaningful revenue, maybe it's producing some, but it's not actively managed and they probably have some fraud in the program as well. They're watching this and they're unsure about if they should work with us and like take the next step in booking a call. What would you tell them?\n\nI would say that to take advantage of, affiliate marketing, in general, you you have to do it right. It's not something that you can just set and forget after setting up your account on some kind of a a affiliate tracking platform. This requires a lot ongoing effort to recruit and activate the best partners. Doing that in house will take a lot of trial and error, and it's really a good idea to hire a affiliate where you already can implement working playbook for that and immediately start taking advantage of the proper approach to recruiting and activating and managing your affiliate partners. If you run a SaaS company like we do, this is one thing that you should really try and see if it works for your business, because I think it will make a difference.\n\nThank you so much for sharing that.
