Being an advocate means being both a listening ear and the voice for patients who maybe have been dismissed by the healthcare system, not listened to, talked over.\n\nHealthcare advocacy to me means being there for my patients to support them during what is probably the most difficult, critical time of their life. It's being able to make sure that their voices are heard, that their choices are respected, and that they're receiving the quality care that not only they desire, but they also deserve.\n\nPatients often come to me feeling very overwhelmed, exhausted, and honestly not sure who to turn to next.\n\nI want to make sure that my patients feel heard, that they feel validated. We listen to your concerns, learn about you, learn about your priorities, what matters most to you as you navigate the healthcare system. Getting an advocate is really simple. You just go to the Solace Health website.\n\nWe'll match you with an advocate and schedule an introductory call where you will share with the advocate, you know, your story, your concerns, and what you are hoping to achieve.\n\nIt may encompass things like making medical appointments, coordinating care, scheduling second opinions, third opinions, assisting with insurance denials. Had a seventy year old patient who had never had a colonoscopy and she started experiencing abdominal pain. I was able to set up transportation for her. I was able to find support for someone to be there with her while she was in the procedure.\n\nIt's one of those areas in healthcare that make it extremely difficult for patients who are aging alone to be able to find those services.\n\nThe thing I love most about being an advocate is hearing my patients tell me that they finally have hope.\n\nWhile I hear often how grateful they are, I feel like I receive just as much a reward from working with them.
